This issue is caused by the software's inability to find or properly handle the SRT file path you are trying to import.

The "Import SRT or Fill Text" feature is designed to use an existing subtitle file for translation and dubbing, bypassing the speech recognition step. The error typically occurs when the file path is invalid, too long, contains special characters, or the file itself is not a properly formatted SRT.

Solution Steps:

  1. Check the SRT File Path and Name:

    • Ensure the SRT file is located in a directory with a short path (e.g., D:\subtitles\). Avoid deeply nested folders.
    • Rename the SRT file to a short, simple name using only English letters, numbers, and underscores. Remove any spaces, Chinese characters, or special symbols (like ?, *, or emojis).
  2. Verify SRT File Format:

    • Open the SRT file with a text editor (like Notepad++) to confirm it is a standard SRT format with correct sequence numbers, timecodes, and subtitle text.
  3. Use the Correct Function:

    • The "Import SRT or Fill Text" button is specifically for the "Translate Video or Audio" workflow. If you are in a different function panel (like "Batch Speech to Subtitle"), this button will not work as intended.
    • Make sure you are on the main "Translate Video or Audio" tab, then click the button to select your SRT file.
  4. Software Installation Path:

    • Confirm the software (pyVideoTrans) is installed in a simple, non-system directory like D:\pyVideoTrans. Avoid paths that are too long or require administrator permissions.

If the problem persists after these checks, please provide the error details from the log file located at E:/win-pyvideotrans-v3.98-316/logs/ (copy the last 30 lines of the most recent .log file).
