Too many requests when trying to use Google Translate to translate the subtitles. Maybe there is, but I couldn't find, a menu where I can specify the amount of seconds to wait for each line of the subtitle to be translated?

429 Too Many Requests means Google's free endpoint rate-limited your IP. There are three common causes:

  1. Your VPN/proxy exit IP is flagged as abnormal traffic by Google (very common when using a VPN).
  2. Requests were sent too frequently.
  3. Since v4.13 the software checks Google's status code first; if not 200 it falls back, but you are on v4.12.

To fix / mitigate, do the following:

1. Slow down requests (this is the menu you were looking for):

  • Menu → Tools/Options → Advanced Options → Subtitle Translation Adjustment
  • Set 传统翻译渠道每批字幕行数 (Batch size for traditional translation) to 1
  • Set 翻译后暂停秒 (Pause after each translation request) to a larger value, e.g. 5–10 seconds
  • Save and restart the task (check 清理已生成 / Clear generated when retrying).

2. Switch to a cleaner VPN node or turn the VPN off/on — a flagged IP will keep returning 429 regardless of pauses.

3. Best long-term option — stop using Google free translation for this. Recommended alternatives:

  • DeepSeek — low cost, much better quality. Register and top up at https://platform.deepseek.com/ , get an API key, fill it in Menu → Translation Settings → DeepSeek. Note: uncheck the Thinking checkbox in its settings panel, otherwise output may be truncated.
  • M2M100(内置) — fully offline local model (first use downloads the model to 软件目录/models/m2m100_12b).
  • Microsoft(免费) — no VPN needed; note Microsoft's free endpoint is unstable and may also fail.

Note: when Google translation fails, the software normally auto-retries with Microsoft translation, but if the 429 comes back repeatedly the whole stage still aborts.
