Core cause: no input file was selected.
pyVideoTrans validates the input first and aborts the task with "Video file selection required" when the file list is empty.
Solution:
- Click
Select Video/Audio at the top-left of the main interface and pick your mp4/mkv/avi/mov/wav/mp3 file.
(If the dialog itself cannot open, see step 3.) - Make sure the selected file is not deleted/renamed and its path is a plain English/number path, e.g.
D:/pyvideotrans 411/input/001.mp4.
Paths containing spaces, Chinese characters or special symbols can make the file fail to load, so the list stays empty and this prompt appears. - Folder name
pyvideotrans 411 contains a space — recommend renaming the install directory to something like D:/pyvideotrans411. - After a valid file appears in the input row, click
Start again. - Windows security software (360/Tencent/Huorong/Defender) may silently block the file dialog; add the whole software folder to the trust whitelist.
If the file is correctly selected and the message still appears, provide the latest log:
- File:
<software dir>/logs/YYYYMMDD.log, copy the last ~30 lines of the error.
