This is a validation error: no file was selected before clicking Start.
- Click Select Video/Audio at the top-left and choose at least one file (mp4/mkv/avi/mov/wav/mp3 etc.).
- Do not tick Folder unless you intend to batch-process an entire directory — if it is ticked and the chosen folder contains no supported media, the same message appears.
- Make sure the path contains only simple ASCII characters (e.g.
D:/vd/001.mp4). Your current install path C:/Users/hp/Downloads/win-pyvideotrans-v4.16 is fine for the software itself, but video paths with Chinese characters, spaces or special symbols can cause ffmpeg failures later. - Verify the file is not still selected from a previous session that was cleared — re-select it, then confirm the file name appears in the field next to the button before clicking Start.
- If the file is selected and the message still appears, the selected item may be unreadable/locked (still open in an editor or partially downloaded). Copy it to a local drive and retry.
If the error persists with a valid file selected, provide the last ~30 lines of the newest log in C:/Users/hp/Downloads/win-pyvideotrans-v4.16/logs/.
