This is a known Edge-TTS 403 handshake failure (WSServerHandshakeError: 403). Microsoft changed the token validation logic of the free Edge-TTS endpoint, so older builds (including your v4.13) can no longer connect — it is not caused by your network, proxy, or voice role (WanLung(Male/HK)).

Solution:

  1. Update the software to v4.16 — this version fixes the Edge-TTS 403 problem:

    • Download the patch package from https://pyvideotrans.com/downpackage and overwrite it into your current program folder (overwrite the whole package including sp.exe, _internal and videotrans folders, not just sp.exe).
    • If your current version differs greatly from v4.16, download the full package (~2.7 GB) and overwrite instead.
    • If after overwriting you still see messages about outdated modules, search __pycache__ inside the _internal folder, delete all found files/folders, then overwrite again.
  2. (Source-deployed version only — not applicable to your frozen build) Run uv add git+https://github.com/rany2/edge-tts.git; if it errors, run uv remove edge-tts first, then re-run the update command.
  3. If 403 or rate-limiting still occurs after updating, reduce request frequency in Menu → Tools/Options → Advanced Options → Dubbing:

    • EdgeTTS配音渠道配音并发数 (concurrent count) = 1
    • 配音后暂停秒 (pause after each request) = 5–10
  4. If you need immediate work instead of updating, switch the TTS channel in the main interface to another one, e.g. Qwen3-TTS(内置), OmniVoice-TTS, or gTTS(免费).
