This is the known Edge-TTS 403 (WSServerHandshakeError) issue — Microsoft changed the verification logic of its free Edge-TTS endpoint, so older versions (you are on v4.14) are rejected. This is not caused by your network, API key, or proxy settings.

Solution:

Upgrade to v4.16 (primary fix). Download the latest package from the official site and overwrite your existing folder (only the sp.exe and _internal/videotrans folders must be fully overwritten):

If you are running a source-code deployment (MacOS/Linux/Windows source) instead of the frozen build, run:

If that errors, first run uv remove edge-tts, then re-run the command above.
If you are behind a proxy/VPN and Edge-TTS still fails after upgrading, create an empty file named edgetts-noproxy.txt in the software root directory to force Edge-TTS to bypass the proxy.
To reduce the chance of rate-limiting after upgrading, go to Menu → Tools → Advanced Options → Dubbing and set EdgeTTS concurrent count to 1, and Pause after each dubbing request to 5–10 seconds.

If the 403 persists after upgrading to v4.16, provide the latest ~30 lines from the newest file in the logs/ folder for further analysis.
